Volunteering Again at the Old Fest

Both volunteering once again at their old college fest — that was the excuse, anyway. Decades after they last shared a shift, they are sitting on wet sand at the edge of a rain-soaked city street, midnight blue all around, his arm around her shoulders like no time passed at all. He wears all-black streetwear and sneakers, hair damp and rain-wet; she is in a flowing white dress, her own hair dark with rain.

Behind them, the city glows through the rain — shopfronts, headlights, neon signs bleeding color into the wet street. Ahead, the waves breathe against the shore. Light rain falls in silver threads, and the diffused light of the overcast midnight makes everything look like a memory that is still happening.

Electric Under the Storm

There is an electric current in this image that has nothing to do with the weather.
