The Story Behind This Image
The Wardrobe Still Smells Like Him
She found his old hoodie at the back of her wardrobe this morning — the grey one she stole two winters ago and never gave back. She is wearing it now, drowning in sleeves that used to fit somebody else's arms, sitting at the riverside cafe where they used to split one cold coffee and argue about nothing.
The fog has swallowed the river. The candle on her table gutters in the damp air, throwing restless light across the untouched second glass she ordered out of habit. Old habits, she is learning, are just love with nowhere to go. The hoodie smells faintly of him still — rain, and that cheap cologne, and safety. She pulls the collar up around her face and breathes it in like oxygen.
Drinking For Two
She drinks her coffee slowly, and then, because waste feels like another kind of goodbye, she drinks his too. The fog doesn't lift. Neither does the ache. But wrapped in his hoodie, in their cafe, in the grey soft world, she is — for one damp hour — not entirely alone.
