Salt Air, One Last Frame

The deserted beach stretches empty in both directions, and the overcast sky hangs low and silver. They sit side by side on the cool sand, his arm drawn around her shoulders, and the waves keep arriving like they have something urgent to say. Neither of them is looking at the water. They are looking at each other — the way people do when they are trying to memorise a face.
