A young couple laughs softly under a tree on a misty forest path, her head in his lap — tears and laughter as everything they waited for arrives.
The Story Behind This Image
The Tree That Witnessed Everything
Under a mossy tree on a misty forest path, a young couple sits close on a blanket, her head resting in his lap, both of them laughing softly — the deep, helpless laughter that arrives when tears have already been spent. He wears a charcoal blazer over a black turtleneck, his hair neatly combed; she wears a black turtleneck with a long black coat.
The title speaks of tears and laughter as they see their something — and the image holds that arrival. Heart-shaped lights hang from the branches above them, glowing gold; the rain-diffused city glow shimmers far down the path. The clear cold night keeps everything honest.
Melancholy, Outlaughed
Their hands rest empty on the blanket — no phones, nothing to capture the moment but memory. The melancholic mood the brief feared never stood a chance: she is laughing up at him, he is laughing down at her, and the forest is laughing with them in its own rustling way.
Two hearts, one storm, weathered into sunshine. This is what it looks like when the thing you have been waiting for finally walks down the misty path toward you — and all you can do is laugh, and cry, and laugh again, under a tree strung with golden hearts.
- Pose: seated under the tree, her head in his lap, both laughing softly
