The Story Behind This Image
The Table for Two
Two coffees, ordered with the confidence of someone who has never been stood up โ and now going cold on the cafe table, the foam collapsing like a held breath finally let go. She watches the steam thin and die and thinks about how love is mostly logistics: showing up, sitting down, staying. He managed none of the three tonight.
Above the Last Train
She climbs to the rooftop ledge above the midnight metro station instead of going home, black turtleneck and long coat snapping in the drizzle, loose hair streaming sideways in the wind. Below, the last train sighs out of the station and the platform empties. Beside her on the wet concrete, a single candle burns in a glass โ absurd, stubborn, hers. Its small warmth holds a circle against the dark. She dangles her legs over the edge of the sleeping city and waits, because waiting is the one thing she has never failed at.
